Robot Battles
Robots going head to head (or wedge to box as the case may be) on the field of battle is the next step in the time honored tradition of building shit to see if it can beat up your neighbor. Or something like that. These remote controlled robots battling it out with each other is pretty damn awesome. There is a good mix of different types of robots going head to head and different approaches on build and techniques in driving.
The ingenuity and technical know how that goes into the building of these robots is as amazing as the battles that they are involved in. It’s a very supportive community and they often help each other fix their robots just so they can compete. Really, really cool.
We got the chance to watch Robot Battles live at DragonCon 2018! While there we gawked at the action and talked to a bunch of the competitors. And I mean a bunch. In addition to talking to the organizer, Kelly Lockhart, we spoke to champions Ben Hanson and Jameson Go. We also grilled Matthew Tomkins, Tom Steeper, Greg VonBeck, David Purcell. Joe, Eric Oppenheimer, John Tamplin, Rob Dillard, Lewis Bomstarck, Matthew and Dominic Deluca, Bill Castanzo, and Simon Arthur about their creations!
Robot Battles are held all over the country. Check out their site to find out where you can join in the carnage!
Also, their YouTube page has videos to all the battles we talked about. Go now!
